Rashford ‘must change’ to revive Man Utd career, says Amorim

Ruben Amorim insisted that Marcus Rashford “should change” before he returned to Manchester United's brochure while his exile of the team continued.

Amorim's comments appeared on Thursday in the Europa League match of the Red Devils with FCSB from the Romanian side, with Rashford again omitted from the team.

The England International for the last time for United in their 3-2 league-defeat against Nottingham Forest in December, and has since pronounced his desire for “a new challenge”.

Rashford trained with his teammates on Wednesday, but was still omitted from the 21-man Europa League team in the midst of speculation of a relocation of Old Trafford.

Amorim repeated that the 27-year-old still has a future with the Red Devils while he is in charge, which suggests that his team will be much better involved with Rashford.

“Imagine a talent as Rashford, our team should be so much better with him – but he has to change,” Amorim said Wednesday.

“If he changes, we are more than welcome [to include him] – And we need it. But at the moment we have to set some standards.

“We are waiting for Rashford, if he really wants it. You [the media] Want to make it personal. I have nothing against Marcus, but I have to make the same rules for everyone.

“We need goals, we need it [players who can go] One against one, we need threats in the last third part. “

Rashford has made 426 performances in all competitions for United since his debut in 2016, with 138 goals and at that time another 63 assists.

He enjoyed his best scores season in 2022-23 and scored 30 goals in all matches in 56 outings under Erik ten Hag, a term that saw him lift the EFL cup for United.

But despite his clear quality, Amorim has made it clear that his attitude should improve if he wants to give up this campaign for the Red Devils again.

After United's 1-0 win over Fulham last Sunday, Amorim suggested that he would rather select his 63-year-old goalkeeper coach instead of Rashford due to his lack of effort.

'The situation is the same for every player. I won't post it [in] Every player who does not give the maximum, “Amorim added.

“If I think it's the right time, I will use every player to play. We are a better team with Rashford, that is clear, but I will not change his mind to the right time.”
