Rashford ‘steps up efforts to leave MU as he holds talks with sports agency’

Marcus Rashford has reportedly stepped up his efforts to leave Man United in January after holding talks with a leading sports agency.

Prior to their loss to Newcastle, Rashford was left out of United's squad for four games by Ruben Amorim, leading to much discussion about the forward's future.

The United striker then revealed in an interview that he is 'ready for a new challenge' and it is now reported that he has taken the first steps to leave United.

According to The Sun, Rashford has held talks with leading sports agency Stellar in the hope of securing a move away from Old Trafford this month.

The same agency helped secure Gareth Bale's stunning £86 million move from Tottenham to Real Madrid in 2013.

The United star is currently represented by brother Dwaine Maynard, but the outlet claims he is ready to join Stellar to make a move.

Rashford's last appearance for United came on December 12, when he played 56 minutes against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League.

He was left out of the squad for matches against Manchester City, Tottenham, Bournemouth and Wolves.

Rashford, who has spent his entire career at United, said he wanted a new challenge after being left out.

Speaking to journalist Henry Winter, Rashford said: 'For me personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.

'If I leave, it will be 'no hard feelings'. You won't get any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person.

'If I know a situation is already bad, I'm not going to make it worse.

“I've seen other players leave in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave, I will make a statement, and it will be mine.”

These comments prompted Amorim to question the player's entourage.

“It's a difficult situation,” Amorim said. 'I understand that these players have a lot of people around them and sometimes make choices that are not the player's first idea. I understand, I can separate things.

'I'm always there to help Marcus, just like any other player.

'They have to do what they have to do. They chose to do the interview because it wasn't just about Marcus. I understand that.'

Rashford, whose contract with United runs until the summer of 2028, has made 426 appearances for the club and scored 138 goals.
