Marcus Rashford did not give up the hope for his dream movement to Spain – even though the Barcelona Deco sports director said this week that the Giants were not 'desperate' to sign him.
Rashford made a deadline daily loan from Manchester United to Aston Villa looking for regular football when boss Ruben Amorim left him in the cold after a bust.
The 27-year-old said he expected to leave his boy's club after he fell out of the team in December for the Manchester Derby.
His brothers – who act as his agents – had conversations with various European clubs, including Barca.
But the Catalans did not succeed in insisting a deal, so that the result was left to add the rest of the season with Villa.
Deco said: “It is true that there was Rashford – but we were not desperately looking for a player.”
In his welcome interview with the club, Rashford said that he was enthusiastic about the prospect of playing football again.
But he also made it clear that he did not see his future in the Midlands in the long term.
That is despite the fact that Villa has an £ 40 million option to buy the player at the end of the loan agreement.
Rashford said: “It is clear that it is only short term that I am here, but I want to get the most out of my time here.
“And the only way to do that is by using my attributes and skills to help the team”.
Yesterday, against Ipswich, Rashford crashed a free kick from the bar that was returned by Ollie Watkins to earn a 1-1 draw.
A source told the sun on Sunday that he still hopes to go to the well camp.
They said: “Marcus is convinced that if he rediscovers his shape in Villa Park and starts to take goals, Barcelona will revive their interest, especially because a transfer price has been established.
“It is a huge stimulus for him, which is good news for Villa.
“Now he just has to play and start scoring.”
