The exploratory department of Manchester United will take a hit when the next round of job cuts comes.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues to streamline the worker's staff and it is expected that more dismissals will take place. More than 100 jobs will go and the scouts of United, of which they are around 80, can get a significant decrease in the number.
That will inevitably hinder the plans of Ruben Amorim, with the Portuguese boss looking for value and quality in the market, not only the big name signs with which the club has become synonymous. While Amorim could spot a number of individuals in Sporting Lisbon who had gone from unknown quantities to large stars.
United's wish to reduce staff numbers is partly due to changes in the industry, which means that scouting has become more data driven and fewer staff required. The Premier League giants employ up to 30 full-time scouts worldwide and about 50 on a part-time or informal basis.
Christopher Vivell, the former technical director of Chelsea, who became the recruitment director of United in the summer in the summer, is expected to be permanently appointed and will lead a restructured operation, the observer reports.
The full -time scouts of United work in the UK and worldwide and they are responsible for identifying potential arrivals for all levels of the club, from the first team to academy. Amorim has players in his team who were identified as teenagers and have continued blooming.
The signing of Amad, which was caught more than £ 30 million from Atalanta, arose because of the worldwide scouting system of United. That is now set for a big hit and can influence the recruitment of the club in the future.
Ratcliffe makes the proposed new dismissals as part of a broader cost -saving drive, but the liberation of scouts can turn out to be that Amorim is not blessed with funds. Financial challenges at Old Trafford mean that the new manager was limited in how much he could spend last month.
That could again be the case in the summer, unless they load some players for large costs. It means that identifying and recording players who are not much discussed will be crucial, but the reduction of the scope of the club's exploration operation only means that they miss certain people.
