RB Leipzig sealed their place in the semi-final of DFB-Pokal with a 1-0 win over Wolfsburg thanks to a well-intended second half of Benjamin Sesko.
Leipzig, who won back-to-back DFB-Pokal titles in 2021-22 and 2022-23, had opportunities in the first half, although they had not registered a shot on goal before the break.
In the second half, the hosts had to suck up early edition from Wolfsburg and were almost behind after Mohamed Amoura's header struck the woodwork only three minutes after the break.
Killian Fischer was punished for a handball in the box, in which Sesko stacked to take the resulting spot kick and to send Marius Muller in the wrong way in the 69th minute.
The Slovenia Vooruit then forced a smart saving of Muller up close. Wolfsburg set up a quick counterattack after that movement, but Kevin Behrens could not find a way beyond Maarten Vandevoordt.
Leipzig joins the Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart holders in the last four, as well as the third row of Arminia Bielefeld, which Werder Bremen stunned on Tuesday 2-1.

Data debrief: Sesko on the spot
After winning back-to-back titles in the competition, Leipzig saw their hope for a third consecutive DFB-Pokal triumph that ended last season with a 1-0 defeat against Wolfsburg.
They did that justice on Wednesday thanks to Sesko, who scored for the third consecutive game in the competition, giving his count to three goals for the season.
Wolfsburg had more attempts on goal (five to the four of Leipzig), but the pressure of the hosts paid off. In general, they had 16 attempts and collected 2,46 expected goals (XG), although 0.78 of them came out of the penalty, while Wolfsburg collected only 0.81.
