Real Betis and Antony quickly become one of the stories of the season in Spain. The winger of Manchester United arrived on loan in the transfer window of January, and both Antony and Betis fell for each other, with the Brazilian winning their derby wins in Seville with as much passion as someone.
It was an important opportunity in the Benito Villamarin, with wild parties after their first victory in 12 competition meetings against Seville and the end of the personal rough series of Manuel Pellegrini against their arch rivals. Los Verdiblancos are back on track for European football, sitting in sixth place level with Villarreal – fifth place is perhaps enough for the Champions League this season.
“We allow ourselves to dream about everything we win. We are connected to Villarreal for the Champions League and now we have an exciting last piece,” he told Marca after the victory.
“For me it is the most special match in terms of sensations, vibes, how long this competition will be remembered, the moral boost … I am very happy to give this audience something to cheer about; this week has been incredible. Three points we can continue to dream.”
Antony seems to have fallen in love with life at Real Betis and has even stated his wish to stay in Sevilla after just two months. That love is mutual and Isco asked jokes to be placed all means to keep the Manchester United -man.
“We have to start a crowdfunding campaign so that he can stay at least another year. We have noticed a change since he arrived; he has brought us so much.”
The 25-year-old has certainly been in good shape and is delighted with his technical skills, almost shaping a brilliant volley in the corner against Seville. The finances seem difficult when it comes to retaining the Brazilian, but that is currently the least care for Betis and Antony, because they enjoy a pounding derby victory.
