Atletico Madrid is supposed to be very close to signing Johnny Cardoso, because it is said that a deal with Real Betis has been agreed. But this information has now been disputed by the one in Andalusia.
On Tuesday it was reported that Athleti and Betis had agreed a deal for Cardoso who was worth more than € 30 million. And this has since been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, who has stated that the last details will be agreed on Wednesday, after which everything can be completed.
But although there is trust on the side of Athleti that everything is done completely, Betis sources say that reality is much different. According to ED, there is still no agreement on a transfer costs between the two clubs, where Los Verdiblancos sticks to their € 40 million valuation of the United States International.
The report has also shown that Betis has received higher offers from Serie A clubs, with some who are willing to reach the € 40 million they are asking for. But for now it is clear that Cardoso would rather stay in La Liga with Atletico, with whom he has already agreed personal conditions.
Atleti is determined to complete the signing of a new defensive midfielder, an area that head coach Diego Simeone wants to tackle for more than 12 months. In this respect, Cardoso would be an excellent addition, although it still has to be seen or a deal will be closed because of these conflicting reports.
The money that is received from the sale of Cardoso will be very useful for Betis, which raises money to be able to pay Antony on a permanent basis of Manchester United. But they will also have to replace the 23-year-old in the event that he does indeed make the switch to Atleti this summer.
