Real line up Xabi Alonso to replace Ancelotti with Italian set for shock new job

Real Madrid stands in line Xabi Alonso to replace Carlo Ancelotti as boss, according to reports.

The future of the Italian in the Spanish capital has come under the microscope since the Champions League output, for his part earlier this week.

Ancelotti spoke with Athletic Bilbao before tomorrow's collision and refused to confirm that he will remain the lead for Los Blancos for the club World Cup this summer.

According to the Athletic, Real Madrid Chiefs have already “left” Alonso about replacing Ancelotti.

The Bayer Leverkusen -43, played under Ancelotti with both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Last season, the former Liverpool Star Leverkusen led to Bundesliga title and DFB Pokal successes, while also reaching the Europa League final.

Alonso is the favorite to replace Ancelotti, was allowed to leave the 65-year-old De Bernabeu as expected.

Ancelotti could manage Brazil on the World Cup 2026.

The experienced boss has long been connected to the Selecao.

It is claimed that a representative of the Brazilian football federation was present this week at the collision of Real Madrid with Arsenal prior to meetings with Ancelotti.

The Selecao is currently without a manager after Dorival Junior's Sacking last month.

In the meantime, Real Madrid was able to bring the gap to Barcelona at the top from Laliga to four points with a victory over Athletic Bilbao.

They will also be confronted with Barca in the Copa del Rey final on 26 April, after which the future of Ancelotti will continue under the microscope.

Earlier today, the boss said under pressure: “We are still competing for trophies. We have one [the Copa del Rey final] In a week, and we have the very first Club World Cup ever at the end of the season, it would not be true to do it now.

“All I can do is thank these players, I enjoyed this and I want to keep doing this. We are still united, we have a great relationship.”

Ancelotti then added: “At the end of the season I will talk to the club about it.

“I don't want to talk about my future today. It's an obvious question, but I don't want to talk about it.

“So everything I say is that we will talk about it with the club at the end of the season.”

Ancelotti won Liga and the Champions League last season.

But this time a trophy campaign could spell the end of his second spell in Madrid.
