Real Madrid wants to move quickly on the transfer market this summer, with three signing sessions planned for the club World Cup. Several former players of incoming manager Xabi Alonso are among their goals this summer.
“I can't promise that I won't do that,” said Alonso with a smile during the press conference where he announced his departure from Leverkusen last week, when he was asked if he would surprise the Bundesliga side for some of his former players. Los Blancos has found a right back in Trent Alexander-Arnold, one of the three defensive signing sessions that Real Madrid wants to make before the Club World Cup next to a center-back and a left back.
The crown jewel in Leverkusen is playmaker Florian Wirtz, and Alonso would like to take him to the Santiago Bernabeu, but Bayern Munich looks best to secure his signature this summer. The same has become true for Jonathan Tah, who would be that long ago to join Barcelona. With the Blaugrana that gets stuck, Bayern Munich has made a movement and seems to be his destination.
However, another of the defensive structure of Leverkusen could be moving this summer. According to Marca, Piero Hincapie is one of the options on the Shortlist of Real Madrid, who has impressed Alonso in recent seasons. This season, on the left side of Alonso's back three, he would fit immediately if the Basque manager would indeed shift backwards this season. Perhaps the question mark would be the price tag – Atletico Madrid is priced from a movement in the past, and it seems unlikely that he would be too much cheaper than Dean Huijsen.
The fourth Leverkusen player who would like to bring in Alonso is Alejandro Grimaldo, while Los Blancos is looking for a left back this summer. Alvaro Carreras and Jorrel Hato are also linked to them, but Grimaldo is one of their cheaper alternatives.
