Gonzalo Garcia has had a fantastic few months at Real Madrid, and he has now been rewarded for his strong form by signing a new contract that will hold him at the Santiago Bernabeu until the summer of 2030.
During the domestic campaign of 2024-25, Gonzalo was hardly counted by the then head coach Carlo Ancelotti, even though he scored 25 goals for Castilla in the first federation. He managed to score for the senior squadron in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals victory over Leganes, but not enough for a permanent promotion.
However, that came earlier this summer when Xabi Alonso called him for the club World Cup – and that was an inspired decision. Gonzalo scored four goals in the United States, when he helped Real Madrid reach the semi-final for a thumping defeat against the European Champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Nevertheless, Gonzalo has left his mark and has now earned his reward. According to an official statement, Real Madrid has announced that he has signed a new five-year contract, while he also confirms that the 21-year-old will remain in the Xabi Alonso team for the coming season 2025-26.
“Real Madrid CF and Gonzalo GarcÃa have agreed to extend the contract of our player, who is linked to the club for the next five seasons, until 30 June 2030. Gonzalo will now be part of the first team of Real Madrid.”
Now that he has been promoted to the first team, Gonzalo has received a new song. He was contrary to being Real Madrid's new number nine, but that went to Endrick Felipe – and the young Spaniard inherited the previous number of the teenager, which was 16.
It will be very interesting to see how Gonzalo gets through during his first full season in the first team of Real Madrid. Given his performances in Club's World Cup, he is planned for a prominent role, although he will stand behind Kylian Mbappe in the striker peckard – and possibly also Endrick.
