The Champions League drawing is complete, with a few blockbuster collisions on the horizon. The three giants of Spanish football have now confirmed their opponents, as well as their paths to the final.
Barcelona had a choice between Paris-Saint-Germain and Benfica in the round of 16, after having received a bye after their second place in the competition phase, and it will be the Portuguese giants with whom they are confronted. They will have the second stage in Montjuic as the higher sown side.
In the meantime, Real Madrid will compete against Atletico Madrid, in a fascinating draw that the two city rivals hit each other for the first IME in Europe since they met in the 2016 Champions League final in Milan. They have to play the first stage in the Santiago Bernabeu, which means that all comebacks must be built away from home in the second stage, in the Metropolitano.
The first legs of the round of 16 will be played on March 4 and 5, with the return legs that fall on 11 and 12 March, a week later.
