Real Madrid has been busy in the field of transfer and by next week they should have confirmed four signing sessions. Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold have already been officially accompanied by AFC Bournemouth and Liverpool respectively, and they will soon be accompanied by Alvaro Carreras and Franco Mastantuono.
A deal for Mastantuono is very close to completion, with the expectation that everything will be packed in the coming days. The 17-year-old will become a member of Real Madrid this summer, but there have been doubts about when he will make exactly the move of the river plate.
The FIFA rules state that non-European players cannot move to European clubs before they turn 18, and this applies to Mastantuono, who has made Argentinian and earlier this week his senior debut for the reigning world champions. This would mean that Real Madrid cannot count on him for this summer's World Cup, which ends before the young person's birthday (who is on August 14).
But despite this, Real Madrid believes that they have found a rule that would guarantee the arrival of Mastantuono before he turns 18. According to per Marca, a deal can be closed if the teenager has double Argentinian-Italian citizenship and existing precedents that have allowed to change the confederation in the same way in the same way in which Los Blancos hope with their new signing.
At this stage it is unclear whether Real Madrid will be successful in these efforts – and if so, whether Mastantuono will participate in the deadline of the first summer transfer window, which will close on 10 June.
But even if Real Madrid has to wait, there is still a chance for Mastantuono to be involved in the last phases of the World Cup club, with teams that can make two team changes from 3 July – the full summer transfer window will be open on this point, so a deal will certainly be done.
