Real Madrid was praised for signing a generation talent when Arda Guler arrived from Fenerbahce two summers ago, and few have questioned his assets since he hit the Spanish capital. However, things are not planned, this season or the last for the Turkish sensation.
Guler, 19, last season only 442 minutes after missing the first six months of action due to different injuries and struggled for opportunities in the second half of the season. After a strong last part and some magical moments, however, Guler was expected to have a much greater role this year.
That was also the intention of Carlo Ancelotti, say Diario as, but somewhere along the line things are not planned with Guler. The teenager only played 76 minutes in the last seven games of Real Madrid, from a unique start against Leganes in the Copa del Rey. Ancelotti was criticized against Manchester City because he did not put Guler off the couch, who followed reports that he could leave in the summer if he no longer gets opportunities. Guler would like to be a leading figure in the World Cup campaign of Turkiye 2026.
The paper-based paper also explains that if Guler receives no minutes against Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey semi-final first stage, the alarm bells will sound a little louder in Valdebebas. The club attitude is that it is 'much too early' to consider allowing the Sterret to leave in the summer, probably on loan, but Guler will accept something otherwise other than a substantial increase in playing time in the last three months of the season.
Guler presented only 967 minutes this season and scored six goals and gave three assists, on average a target contribution every 121 minutes. Yet Brahim Diaz stays in the pecking order for him, in a front line that is already difficult to get in.
