Real Madrid confirm new preseason friendly in Austria

Real Madrid has confirmed an update of their presidential schedule prior to the start of 2025/26 LA Liga.

Los Blancos signed up on the extended season 2024/25 with defeat against PSG in the FIFA Club World Cup Semi finals.

Games that are in July meant a knock-on effect for their preseason plans, with La Liga showing little sympathy about the situation.

Alonso's team is now back for medical tests and assessment prior to their first match of 2025/26 on 19 August at home at Osasuna.

That starting date caused controversy, with Real Madrid early early to push it back to give their players extra preparation at the back of a busy summer.

However, that was simply refused, with official confirmation from La Liga President Javier Tebas when he explained the decision behind the rejection.

Real Madrid has since asked for an independent ruling, but the decision of La Liga has maintained that with the game that continued as planned.

The lack of time between players returning from the holiday and the preseason has meant large planning updates, but the club has now added one warm -up game to the schedule.

The daring step of not playing in the previous season matches had raised eyebrows, but the Alonso team will now take on the Austrian side WSG Tyrol on 12 August in the Tivoli Stadium in Innsbruck, Austria with Kick Off Set at 7 pm local time.

Alonso will take a strong team to Austria because he wants to accelerate the preparations, but Jude Bellingham will be absent with the traveling party.

The international of England underwent a delayed operation about a problematic shoulder problem after the club's World Cup and it is not expected that he will take action again until November.

Ferland Mendy and David Alaba will be rated in the coming days with both players who are still recovering from an injury.
