Real Madrid consider €60m defender in double-move with Manchester United

Real Madrid has struggled on the left all season, but the last one from the Spanish capital is that they can move for someone for the right price. Originally they were planning to sign Alphonso Davies on a free from Bayern Munich, before the Bavarian side managed to renew his deal.

Although it has been a problem all year round, Leftback was not mentioned as a priority for Los Blancos this summer. But now Diario reports that Los Blancos is considering signing Benfica left back Alvaro Carreras. The Portuguese giants strongly judge him and would look at an offer of € 60 million to renounce the Spanish defender.

Real Madrid does not intend to achieve that compensation, but they do believe that they can make him cheaper. Carreras arrived in Benfica with a deal of € 6 million from Manchester United, but the Red Devils have a return option of € 18 million on the 22-year-old, who was on the Real Madrid Academy before moving to England. They believe that Manchester United, who does not have him in their plans, would be willing to perform that option and then sell him with a profit at around € 30-35 million, almost doubles their money.

During his first six months at Benfica, Carreras became a surprising starter in Lisbon, but this season really attracted attention. His performances in the Champions League against Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have put him on the map, and he has been one of Benfica's better artists. This season he has four goals and five assists in his 47 performances, Carreras has defended well, but stands out for his attacking burst and intersection.

Barcelona seems to have decided not to move for a left back this summer, but searched for him earlier this year. Where Real Madrid may come across, the competition of Atletico Madrid, who are also looking for a starting left back this summer. The mentioned reports also note that the Release Clause of Carreras is € 42 million.
