Real Madrid have been frequently linked with both Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies in the past year. But with both now able to sign a deal with Los Blancos, the deal is expected to be expedited in the coming weeks.
Both were told that in order to sign for Real Madrid they had to 'do an Mbappe' and reduce their contracts to the point where they could sign for Los Blancos, regardless of the pressure their clubs put on them. Now that the first part of their briefs has been completed by both players, phase two can begin, namely the signing and sealing of their contracts – deals that could be concluded 'in the coming days'.
Real Madrid remain hopeful that Liverpool will come up with the idea of selling Alexander-Arnold in January, says Marca, but regardless they remain confident that a deal will be done with the player or the club in January. All their contact with the Liverpool defender remains positive and they contacted the Reds with Alexander-Arnold's consent to negotiate a possible sale. Meanwhile, a deal for Davies remains 'on course', despite mixed reporting on the matter.
There is more confidence in Real Madrid securing Alexander-Arnold's signature than in Davies, for whom Bayern Munich plays a major role. However, Liverpool have reportedly come close to signing Real Madrid's contract offer in the hope of swaying Alexander-Arnold's mind. With Davies, reports in Germany say there is confidence from Bayern's side that they can also strike a deal for the Canadian after making significant progress.
