Real Madrid has picked up a UEFA fine, this time for racist behavior by their fans during their Champions League collision with Arsenal. The incident took place during the collision in London at the Emirates Stadium in early April.
According to MD, Los Blancos has raised an account of € 15k from the Committee of Control, Ethics and Discipline, for the 'racist attitude' of their fans. They have also imposed a suspended prohibition on the road ticket sale, valid for the following year, which means that if they are found guilty of another violation, they can be prohibited for their next road trips in UEFA competitions.
It is not entirely clear which incident the fine has, and at least there has been no reported on a large scale.
It is not the first time that Real Madrid is in trouble with the administrative body for their behavior this season, albeit mainly with regard to their players. During the aftermath of their fine -shootout -victory on Atletico Madrid, Antonio Rudiger, Kylian Mbappe and Dani Ceballos all gathered fines for their parties, which UEFA felt across the border. Rudiger and Mbappe also received a forbidden ban from one game, which means that if they infringe the rules again, they will also be confronted with a suspension.
The scourge of racism is increasing in Europe, as is apparent from another incident in the semi-final of the Champions League, this time of the Arsenal fans at the Emirates. De Spiegel explains that Arsenal is investigating, after PSG players have been met with monkeyimitations of the home crowd in London. Arsenal has released a statement in which those fans are convicted.
Real Madrid has been vocal about racism in recent years and convicted abuse for Lamine Yamal in the Santiago Bernabeu in October, although they have not yet confirmed the location and expulsion of the aforementioned fans on the ground.
