Real Madrid get midfield star back from injury – set to make squad for Bilbao
Real Madrid are back within a point of La Liga leaders Barcelona, and less than a week after the defeat to Liverpool raised more questions about their season, the mood is looking a lot more optimistic. Injured players are also on their way back, with Aurelien Tchouameni returning to training on Monday.
According to Marca, Tchouameni has been training with the group and is expected to be included in their squad for Wednesday night's trip to San Mames to take on Athletic Club. Manager Carlo Ancelotti had also said that, and after Rodrygo Goes returned to action on Sunday, Tchouameni could start work in Bilbao.
The French midfielder has been out for a month after suffering an ankle injury during El Clasico. Following Eder Militao's injury, it was widely expected that Tchouameni would play almost exclusively as a central defender in defence, but with Raul Asencio's good form reducing the urgency to do so, and Eduardo Camavinga now also out of action, he was able to play instead play midfield. .
