It is obvious that Trent Alexander-Arnold will join Real Madrid, who is already preparing for his arrival. The current Liverpool of Alexander-Arnold expires on 30 June, after which he would be free to become a member of Real Madrid. But there is a possibility that it will arrive in the Spanish capital before this date.
That is because the new format of the club World Cup will get the first outing this summer, and Real Madrid is one of the clubs involved. According to Relo, they want to sign Alexander-Arnold before they travel to the United States before the start of the tournament, which starts in mid-June.
Liverpool was not eligible for the club World Cup, so there would be little wish for them to keep Alexander-Arnold in their books when Real Madrid comes to call. The new transfer window that is open from 1 June to 10 am gives the two clubs the opportunity to agree to a deal, and that is what Los Blancos intends to do.
Reports from the past few weeks have suggested that Liverpool would be willing to have Alexander-Arnold leave prior to the end of his contract, but it is not known whether they would ask for transfer costs. They would be good within their right to do this, but if they do, it would not be a surprise to see Real Madrid reject and just wait until the English international joins for free.
It is still to be seen whether Real Madrid is successful in their attempt to present the arrival of Alexander-Arnold, but first they have to secure a pre-contract agreement with him.
