Real Madrid icon on Kylian Mbappe struggles – “He looks unconfident, shy and scared”
Kylian Mbappé is currently experiencing one of the toughest moments of his career. He has struggled to live up to expectations in the early stages of his time at Real Madrid, and after another clean sheet against Liverpool on Wednesday, which included a missed penalty, he is now averaging 0.5 goals per game.
According to MD, Real Madrid icon Guti believes Mbappe's confidence issues are playing a major role in his poor form.
“We all want to know what happens to Mbappé. He looks insecure, shy… Just before taking the penalty kick he seemed scared… In that sense he is certainly not happy with his performance and wants something more. There is a lack of confidence and you add that Real Madrid were eagerly waiting for him and that he has come out of his PSG bubble where he had everything under control.
“Mbappe has now come to another team where he will certainly have to compete with big players to be the best, and that will all come at a cost. And the Real Madrid shirt is difficult… And that's normal. It is difficult to imagine a player adapting so quickly and so quickly to a club like Real Madrid, where it is very difficult to play.”
Due to their injury problems, Real Madrid cannot afford to take Mbappe out of the firing line. Guti believes that this would not be the right thing to do anyway.
“Removing him from the team would be the worst solution, but we have to protect him. And that's why he's at the best club. Real Madrid, Florentino Perez and Ancelotti will protect him because we all believe in him. I believe in him. It's easy to criticize and say he's not good enough… but Mbappe is one of the best players in the world.”
