Real Madrid has lost a number of huge names this summer as part of major changes in the club under the recurring Xabi Alonso.
In the last weeks of the 2024/25 season, former club captain Luka Modric confirmed that he would stay after the FIFA Club World Cup, and the Croatian has since completed a free transfer to AC Milan.
Modric has signed a one -year deal with the San Siro, to fulfill its goal to lead Croatia on the FIFA World Cup next summer, with the option to expand until 2026/27 if all parties agree.
However, Modric was not the only big exit of the name, where Vice captain Lucas Vazquez also continued as a free agent.
Both players had previously signed a succession of an annual extensions, according to Real Madrid's policy compared to players of 30+, but the call has now been made to go in a new direction.
According to reports from Diario Sport, Vazquez is still undecided about where will play in 2025/26, despite receiving offers from clubs in the La Liga, Turkey and the Saudi Pro League.
The experienced defender is open to leaving Spain, when the right offer lands, but he will not sign a year.
The 34-year-old wants a continuation of what he has experienced in Madrid, avoids and wants a greater commitment to a new team.
The rumor is that the Galician is willing to refuse enormous financial offers based on just 12 months, because he is haunting that longer warranty or at least two years.
That is not for the same reasons as Modric, where Vazquez is not in the plans of Luis de la Fuente for the World Cup in Luis de la Fuente, after his retirement in 2018 to retire to extend his club career.
He only made nine senior performances for the national team from 2016 to 2018 before he called it a day with La Roja.
