Real Madrid has identified Central Midfield as one of the three areas they want to strengthen this summer, and it seems that they know the names of the people they want to come in to do this. Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad is their most important target in the central midfield.
Los Blancos would like to tackle the three areas that caused the most headache from Carlo Ancelotti this season, in this case Central Midfield, Central Defense and Right-back. The latter is the most advanced of the three, with Liverpool right back Alexander-Arnold everything but signed and ready to arrive for free. In recent weeks it has happened that Real Madrid intends to move to Bournemouth -defender Dean Huijsen, amidst competition from people like Chelsea.
Now they have started making movements for Zubimendi. The 26-year-old Basque midfielder seems to be going on this summer after a few years of rejecting a number of top clubs willing to activate his release clause of € 60 million, the last of which was Liverpool last summer. Los Blancos sees Arsenal as their primary obstacle for Zubimendi, with reports in England who claim that Arsenal is in advanced conversations and Mikel Arteta intention to bring him in.
Real Madrid has now made their move, say Diario ALS. After reports in recent months that Los Blancos closes the gap on Arsenal, and that Zubimendi is one of their options, the outlet established in Madrid explains that they have had informal conversations with Zubimendi. The goal was to let him know that they are very interested, and if he wants, there is a real chance that he could play in the Santiago Bernabeu next season. No final decision has been made yet and when it is taken by Zubimendi, Los Blancos wants to be in or around the pole position.
Zubimendi was haunted in advance by Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Arsenal, but last summer it was the first time that La Real had to persuade the Spain International to stay. Arsenal has certainly been behind Zubimendi for longer, but the attraction of merging an All-Star Real Madrid side, and possibly managed by Xabi Alonso in the future will be considerable.
