Real Madrid now focuses on sale, with four summer signing sessions, which means that their first team team is on 25-man capacity. At this stage, the most likely sale is one of their two left -wing backs from last season: Ferland Mendy or Fran Garcia.
The recent arrival of Alvaro Carreras, who is expected to be a starter next season, means that Real Madrid has been booked back left. That is why a sale is needed and it will be between Mendy and Garcia. The latter has been strongly connected to Milan in recent weeks, but a deal no longer seems to be happening.
And there is a reason for this, with Diario as a message that Real Madrid and head coach Xabi Alonso agree that Garcia is not allowed to leave this summer. The 25-year-old is seen as an excellent player to compete with Carreras for the left place, with an impression on club officials in the past 12 months.
This decision means that Mendy is the player who was identified before departure, even though he signed only a new three -year contract with Real Madrid a few months ago. The 30-year-old is no longer calculated, and if he wants to play regularly next season, he has to look for an exit.
It is very logical for Real Madrid to give priority to keeping Garcia or Mendy. The latter is much older and his departure will be kept to lower the average age of the team. Moreover, his injury record is disturbing, so there are doubts about whether he can be available for an entire season.
It is still to see whether Real Madrid can find a new club for Mendy, but they will have to do that if they want to make a signature this summer.
