Real Madrid will not take a step for William Saliba this summer.
The Spanish giants have long been associated with a movement for the defender after his striking versions for Arsenal. This season they struggled in the middle with long -term injuries ago by Eder Militao and David Alaba.
And although Real Madrid has not completely thrown away their interest in Saliba, they are not expected to move for him this summer. According to the Spanish Outlet Religro, the club will be quiet when it comes to the transfer market. The only arrival is expected to be the free signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool, which seems to leave Anfield at the end of his contract.
It is suggested that Real is satisfied with the efficiency of Militao and Alaba, as well as Antonio Rudiger. Raul Asencio has also been an impressive performer this term since he entered the first team, which seemed to be in both La Liga and the Champions League.
Jacobo Ramón and Joan Martínez also contribute to their central defensive options, which makes the need for additives in that area facilitate. But Madrid will have a look over Saliba, especially if he does not hold on to a new deal at the Emirates in the near future.
Nevertheless, ex-Arsenale Ster Ian Wright still makes the future of Saliba. He has suggested that the Gunners must match the ambition of Saliba on the transfer market or run the risk that he will stop the club.
Speaking on the Wrighty's House podcast, he said: “If they don't get the kind of players to take us to the next step … Look at Saliba.
“Real Madrid would take him with him tomorrow. Why wait and see what is going on in the summer to see the kind of players and the caliber of the player we sign?
“This is where people are needed to be careful and I am sure that Mikel will have told them that because he probably has the same kind of ambition: if you are not going to give me the kind of players I need, I will not be able to keep the players I have here.
“We have not even discussed these players in that conversation. This summer and who is coming, F *** ING Vitaal is important for these players. There is now many going on who has to be unpacked by these people up and they better do well. They better do well.”
Saliba came to Arsenal from the French side Saint-Etienne in 2019, although he remained on loan at the club. The defender then had two more loan spells in his home country with Nice and Marseille prior to his breakthrough in 2022.
Since then, Saliba has made 119 performances for Arsenal and forges an impressive defensive partnership alongside Gabriel Magalhaes. Both center backs see that their contracts end in the summer of 2027.
