Despite signing a contract renewal until 2030 last summer, it was made public that Lunin was still open to an exit, and Los Blancos would consider offers of more than € 20 million. Manchester United is linked to Lunin, while Real Oviedo is interested in a loan movement.
Sources, however, have informed the España football that Lunin is no longer considering an exit. The 26-year-old has established a strong bond with the club, and Los Blancos trusts that he would be injured at any time. His form in the club has grown and it has been speaking internally that Lunin could be trusted in the Copa del Rey next season – Carlo Ancelotti chose to play Courtois in the final against Barcelona.
If Lunin were to move, this would be for a starting role. Paris Saint-Germain was interested in Lunin as a backup, while Manchester City and Manchester United also investigated Lunin as an option. However, the most serious exit options were Aston Villa and Galatasaray. The first looked at Lunin as a replacement for Emiliano Martinez, prior to a possible exit. Likewise, Galatasaray are looking for the successor of Fernando Muslera, after he returned to Argentina, the land of his birth. Part of Lunin's decision was that he did not see a convincing offer that would convince him to leave the club.
There is a question about the goalkeeper position at Real Madrid. Courtois missed most of the previous season with a serious knee injury and was also absent for another 12 games this season due to fitness issues. At the age of 33, Los Blancos seem to have decided that they will give him a new deal, which confirms their faith in him. However, Lunin will be aware that the keeping position in the Santiago Bernabeu will be a dispute in the next two or three years.
