Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti addresses €1m tax evasion case – ‘I’m eager to testify’

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated that he is not worried about the tax fraud case with which he is confronted. On Friday it was revealed that the Italian will testify in court this Wednesday, whereby the public prosecutor accused him of deliberately misleading the tax office.

Ancelotti is accused of avoiding a total of € 1.024 million in tax between 2014 and 2015. After he stated in a previous case that he was misled by his tax advisers and the tax office, he defended his innocence on this occasion. The prosecution is reportedly looking for a criminal of four years and nine months for fraud.

“There are many topics to debate today,” he laughed. “It is true, I have to testify next week, and I will do this on Wednesday. This is not the subject for debate. What will happen next week has been filed by the office of the public prosecutor. I won the first test and I trust the law and justice completely. I am not worried.

Among those subjects were the reports on conversations between Ancelotti and the Brazilian federation, and his reaction to La Liga President Javier Tebas about the planning. After UEFA had announced that she would investigate Vinicius Junior, Dani Ceballos, Antonio Rudiger and Kylian Mbappe for their behavior during their Champions League collision against Atletico Madrid, Ancelotti took an equally carefree position.

Ancelotti will testify in the case on Wednesday, the day after his side is confronted with Real Sociedad in the return leg of the Copa del Rey Semi-Final, in which they have a 1-0 lead. This is the last of a number of controversial tax matters in Spain that chases celebrities, but it must be noted that no one has served in prison, most of which reach an arrangement. Xabi Alonso is an example of someone who fought against the indictment and was acquitted.
