Real Madrid is expected to look for a new manager in the next 12-16 months, and one of their goals can be brought in via a release clause, it is now confirmed.
Carlo Ancelotti has had a very impressive second spell that was in charge of Real Madrid, with various large awards – including two Champions League titles. He strives for more glory before he ends his time in the Santiago Bernabeu, with that date to be determined.
Ancelotti is under contract until 2026, but there have been suggestions that this summer could be asked to go aside to allow a new face to take the governments. Xabi Alonso is the preferred candidate of Real Madrid, but they are also linked to Andoni Iraola, who has done miracles since he took over from Premier League Side AFC Bournemouth.
Van Tottenham Hotspur is also said that it is enthusiastic about Iraola, and if one of the two clubs wants to name him as their next manager, they would have to pay the release clause in his Bournemouth contract. According to athletics (via ED), that figure is £ 10 million (€ 12 million).
Tottenham, who could dismiss an under -spray head coach Ange Postecoglou in the coming weeks, would have little problem to pay this amount, and neither would be Real Madrid. Los Blancos, however, would probably wait until 2026 if they were moving to Iraola, given that his contract in Bournemouth is simultaneously going like that of Ancelotti.
There is no hurry at Real Madrid to renounce Ancelotti, who has the full support of the club of the board of directors. There is certainly a desire that Alonso or Iraola arrives, but for now the plan is to continue with the Italian for the rest of this season, and the completely of the following.
