Real Madrid midfielder ruled out of La Liga opener due to injury

Real Madrid starts their 2025-26 season in nine days when they organize Osasuna in the Santiago Bernabeu, but it seems that without an important player for the first La Liga match of Xabi Alonso they will be.

Alonso will have big decisions to take during his first starting line-up of the season, especially in midfield. If he uses a 4-2-3-1 as expected, there will be a question about who plays alongside Federico Valverde as one of the two pivots in that system. Aurelien Tchouameni is the favorite, but there is also a chance for Eduardo Camavinga.

Camavinga is looking for salvation during the 2025-26 campaign, with a bad past 12 months. Real Madrid has kept their confidence in him, but they will be clear that he must return to his best level to stay on the Bernabeu in the long term.

But unfortunately for Camavinga he seems to miss the La Liga opener against Osasuna, with Real Madrid confirming that he has sustained an ankle injury.

“After the tests that were performed today on our player Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he was diagnosed with a sprain in his right ankle. In anticipation of evolution.”

According to Marca, it is just a small injury for Camavinga, but he is still expected to be outside for at least 10 days. And given the fact that Real Madrid encounters next Tuesday (19/08), it would come too early to be involved.

Real Madrid is already without Jude Bellingham during the next 2-3 months after he had surgery on a long-term shoulder injury earlier in the summer. It is absolutely not ideal for Alonso to be without another midfielder for his first game in the Bernabeu, but it seems that he will have to do without Camavinga against Osasuna.
