Real Madrid struggled this season with injuries on the back, and although that led to a number of difficulties in competitions for Carlo Ancelotti, the rise of Raul Asencio has been a positive thing to get out.
The 22-year-old was originally not even the first choice of Carlo Ancelotti to be promoted from the Castilla side, with 17-year-old Joan Martinez and Jacobo Ramon originally in the pecking order for him. As with the first team, however, injuries was free for him to have his shot in the first team, and solid from the start, Asencio took that chance with both hands.
The idea of going through the last two months without Asencios Aggression and Safety does not think of Madridistas, in which Asencio now gives a total of 29 performances, not to make until November until November. Although David Alaba now fits back and fully fits after his recovery of a knee injury, at least based on shape, Asencio will see the season alongside Antonio Rudiger as the first choice for Thibaut Courtois.
Asencio will be a while – several reports claim that Los Blancos has reached an agreement to double his contract by five years, until 2029, his release clause to € 100 million. Although Real Madrid has a clause in his contract to extend it by five years that they can automatically activate, figures from Marca claim that Asencio will also receive a salary of € 6.2 million from next year, a figure that year after year to € 9 million a year will rise until the end of his contract.
In the meantime, there is a lot of speculation about the future of Real Madrid's backline. Earlier this month, Asencio earned his first call for Spain, but did not play because of the form of Dean Huijsen, who stood up for the wounded Pau Cubarsi and then started against the Netherlands. Los Blancos is apparently in the race to also sign the € 60 million defender.
