It looks like Real Madrid will undergo a major change to their squad next summer, with gaps opening up in various areas of the pitch, which won't be helped by injury. One of the positions likely to be affected is the left back position.
It was thought that Alphonso Davies would definitely arrive next summer, but that is now much more up in the air than previously thought. If the Canadian does not sign for Los Blancos, Miguel Gutierrez would be one of the best options to return to the Santiago Bernabeu. MD says Real Madrid scouted Gutierrez as a potential recruit during their clash with Girona on Saturday.
Los Blancos have a 50% sell-on clause in Gutierrez's contract, as well as an eight million euro buy-back clause, making the 22-year-old a cheap alternative on the left. It appears Real Madrid are not specifically married to Ferland Mendy or Fran Garcia, with the latter likely to move next summer. Gutierrez has been perhaps the most consistent of the trio over the past 19 months.
