Real Madrid scouting department prioritising ‘mission impossible’

Standards are high at Real Madrid, and who work there, are clearly some of the most talented in their field. With the territory, however, some of the most difficult jobs in football also come. In the coming months on the exploration of Real Madrid, exactly that will be determined.

According to Relo, the scouting department of Real Madrid has one goal for the coming months – find the replacement for Luka Modric. Although they are aware that those who bring them in probably do not have the impact or the career that Modric has had at the Santiago Bernabeu, there is an agreement that they need a profile of his type within their team.

The 39-year-old is without a contract at the end of the season, but would like to stay another year and travel to the 2026 World Cup with Croatia as a Real Madrid player. This does not mean that Real Madrid's decision was taken on him, but they want to have a plan and prepare for life without the veteran. The last call is made after discussions between the two in May.

Modric continues to show its value under Carlo Ancelotti and this season plays 2,087 minutes on 44 games. He scored four times and helped seven goals, including a crucial equalizer against Valencia in January. It is his ability to quickly think in the middle of the field, to set the right pace and combine it with a Vechtgeest that they are looking for on the market. There had been a lot that Arda Guler could become the player, but he is now reserved for a more offensive role.

Earlier it was reported that Bayer Leverkusen -star Florian Wirtz is seen in a slightly deeper role as a potential replacement for Modric, while Real Madrid is linked to midfielders who tend to sit more. Arsenal -target Martin Zubimendi has also been linked to Los Blancos in recent months, although he apparently would play a more similar role as Toni Kroos than Modric.
