If there was one big doubt that Real Madrid's team entered the season, it was how Los Blancos will deal without Toni Kroos. Since the German departure, Real Madrid has struggled for balance in the middle of the field and are connected to a number of players in the meantime.
The latter is Crystal Palace Youngster and England International Adam Wharton. According to DM (via Marca), England manager Thomas Tuchel was recently seen in Selhurst Park to better view Wharton. Also spotted in the stands in London were Real Madrid Scouts, who clearly keep an eye on Wharton.
The 21-year-old was admitted to the Gareth Southgate team for Euro 2024 and debuted in a friendly before the tournament, but did not play in Germany. Now he seems to be back on the radar for the three lions, as well as a number of other clubs.
This season he only played 16 times because of a groin operation early in the season that kept him outside for three months. However, he has impressed in his 894 minutes and enough to attract attention. If Los Blancos were to move for him, Wharton would probably yield a considerable price, after a year ago for € 21.1 million. He is bound in a contract until 2029.
Real Madrid stands up for his ability to recover the ball and his circulation in possession seems to look at options with similar skills. Earlier in the year it was rumor that Atalanta's Orgererson Dos Santos was on their shortlist, while € 60 million real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi is a different name that is linked to them. The Spanish international is supposed to be in advanced conversations with Arsenal during a move, which has been pursued by a number of European giants in recent years.
