With Nacho Fernandez and Joselu Mato leave and Dani Carvajal wounded, the recent Spain -Squadrons are exhausted from Real Madrid representation in a way that has been rare in the history of La Roja. With the versions of Dani Ceballos and Raul Asencio in recent months, however, they hope that both will be called by Luis de la Fuente for their international break in March.
Ceballos was in the first team of De La Fuente as Spain manager, but then no longer played for Spain. Last season that was mainly due to his lack of playing time for Real Madrid, but Cadena Ser reports that his absence of their Nations League team in 2024, and since then lack of call-ups, was not purely due to sporting reasons.
At the time it was reported that the tensions had risen between Ceballos and Barcelona star Gavi, but that argument had little to do with the Real Madrid -man who was put down. During a signature session, Gavi did not appear next to his teammates, something that the Spain captains and management reproduce him, and the teenager midfielder then admitted his mistake.
However, Ceballos came to problems after this information had leaked to the press, in addition to another report that questioned Gavi's attitude, which was appointed to Ceballos. It was understood by the captains and management that even if Gavi had made a mistake, the young person had to be protected, while Ceballos had deliberately leaked the information to damage Gavi's chances of selection. This was probably confirmed by the captains of Spain of the record.
That incident, now for almost two years in the past, has forgotten, and Ceballos is on the table again as an option for De La Fuente. It is noted that Gavi, Oihan Sancet and Marc Casado are a fierce competition for Ceballos to earn a call-up during the season. Martin Zubimendi, Pedri, Alex Baena, Fabian Ruiz and Mikel Merino are all considered integral members of the team.
For his part, Ceballos maintained that his relationship with Gavi is good, as he did at the time. He also insists that he has been 'respectful' with his colleagues and that will always be. The 28-year-old has played 29 times this season and gave two assists in his 1,402 minutes on the field. In recent weeks, however, he has played a leading role for Carlo Ancelotti, which arranges games for Real Madrid.
