Real Madrid has come out with a strong explanation in rejection of the plans to play the first LA Liga match ever in the United States. Los Blancos has already gone to three of the administrative bodies outside the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and La Liga to argue.
On Monday it was announced that the RFEF had approved the petition for a competition abroad. The home game of Villarreal against Barcelona planned for 20/21 December (the last of the year) will be organized in Miami in the home base Miami Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium of the NFL. The idea is concerned by La Liga Captains, the Spanish player Association (AFE) and the Spanish supporters association (Fasfe).
Los Blancos shone a statement on Tuesday afternoon and explained that they reject the idea of organizing a competition outside of Spain. Their reasoning is that by removing the house or the road for two teams, the equality of the competition would fundamentally change, because it will not be the same playing field.
The approval of the RFEF means that in theory only the green light of FIFA and UEFA is allowed between the game or not. Los Blancos has appealed to both to reject the idea until the unanimous approval of all clubs in the case of FIFA is given and that the rules of domestic competition are maintained when it comes to UEFA. Real Madrid has also written to the High Committee for Sport (CSD) to begged them not to let this continue.
Real Madrid CF would like to make it clear to its members, supporters and football fans in general that it is strongly rejecting the proposal to play the National First Division League Championship match between Villarreal CF and FC Barcelona on match day 17 outside Spain.
The measure, which was taken without prior information or consultation from the clubs that participated in the competition, violates the essential principle of territorial reciprocity, which applies in two-legged competitions (one match at home and the other at the house of the opposite team), which is being disturbed and an unnecessary priority for the attack.
The integrity of competition requires that all competitions take place under the same conditions for all teams. Unilaterally changing this regime breaks the equality between contenders, endangers the legitimacy of the results and puts an unacceptable precedent that opens the door to exceptions based on non-sporting interests, which clearly influences sporting integrity and to risk the falsification of competition. If this proposal were to be implemented, the consequences would be so serious that it would be a turning point in the football world.
Any change of this nature must in any case have the express and unanimous agreement of all clubs participating in the competition, and strictly respect the national and international rules for the organization of official competitions.
In defense of this principle, Real Madrid has already taken three specific actions:
1. Request FIFA, as a guarantee for the international football rules, not to authorize the importance of the match without the earlier permission of all clubs participating in the competition.
2. Request UEFA, as a guarantee for the integrity of European competitions and the consistency of the regulations with FIFA, to encourage the RFEF to withdraw or refuse the RFEF, whereby the criterion set in 2018 will be confirmed that official matches in domestic competitions are played outside of national territory, except in properly arranged.
3. Request the Consejo Superior Deportes (Spanish High Sports Council) not to grant the necessary administrative authorization without such a unanimous permission. Real Madrid confirms its dedication to respect the national and international rules that guarantee the honesty and the good functioning of official competitions and will defend his compliance before all competent authorities.
