Real Madrid expects to be busy on the contract front between now and the end of the season, in which several players are viewed. An agreement is expected to be concluded with Trent Alexander-Arnold for him to sign from Liverpool as a free agent in the summer, while the plan is also that Vinicius Junior is offered a new deal to ward off clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Another player whose situation will be tackled is Raul Asencio. The 21-year-old central defender has been a revelation for Real Madrid this season, after using injuries to Eder Militao and David Alaba to settle as an important member of the first team team of Carlo Ancelotti.
Asencio, who currently has to deal with Off-Field business, will receive a new Real Madrid contract in the coming weeks. His current deal will end at the end of next season and the club does not want to run the risk of losing him for free at that time, or for a reduced price in the summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid regards Asencio's new contract as a priority. As part of the upcoming negotiations, the club's plan is to remove the current release clause in its contract, which stands at € 50 million.
It is clear that Real Madrid sees Asencio as a player who can settle in the first team for many years to come. He has the advantage that he is young, which makes himself a strong candidate to permanently take over the reins of Alaba and Antonio Rudiger, given that they are both more than 30 years old now.
It is still to be seen whether Real Madrid still has plans to sign a new central defender in the coming years. The rise of Asencio has certainly made tackling the position less of a priority.
