Real Madrid to miss out on Xabi Alonso target as Arsenal secure agreement

Real Madrid is expected to be on the market for several players this summer, but one goal seems to slide out of reach before the transfer window is even opened.

This summer is a new era for Real Madrid. Xabi Alonso will arrive as the next manager of the club, to replace Carlo Ancelotti, and Trent Alexander-Arnold will also participate from Liverpool. And after a disappointing season that is on track to leave them without a big trophy, it would not be a surprise to see further arrivals.

Midfield is a position that can be tackled, since it was a problem this season after the departure of Toni Kroos last summer. But the desired target of Alonso seems to slide away.

As reported by Ben Jacobs, Arsenal has positioned himself to sign Martin Zubimendi this summer, with an agreement in principle that has been reached between the Premier League side and the real Sociedad -Middender.

“In principle, Arsenal has an agreement to sign Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. Deal only Deal in anticipation of formalization. Although Arsenal is careful, Zubimendi has changed in the past, there is now a complete agreement with the player. Edu and Jason Ayto the drunky -like behind the deal.

Arsenal is planning to activate the release clause of Zubimendi € 60 million this summer at the earliest possible opportunity, with La Real Unwilly to negotiate with clubs about their star midfielder. Real Madrid has reserved about paying this price, and this is probably a contributing factor for their expected inability to sign the 26-year-old Spain International.
