There has been a lot of speculation in recent months about Vinicius Junior's future as a Real Madrid player. Saudi Arabia in particular has been working hard to win over the Middle East, and further efforts will be made in 2025 to broker a deal for the 24-year-old superstar.
There are reports that Vinicius felt disillusioned with European football after his Ballon d'Or win in October, although Real Madrid do not see things that way. They plan to offer their star player a new contract at the end of the season, although it appears they will also have to brace for a world record bid at the same time.
According to a report from Give Me Sport (via MD), Saudi Arabia is preparing to make a €350 million bid for Vinicius. If they do, and it is successful, it would become the most expensive deal in football history, surpassing the €222 million Barcelona received from Paris Saint-Germain for Neymar Junior in 2017.
Should a deal be reached, Saudi Arabia would decide which club Vinicius would join. According to the report, the favorites are Al Ahli, who have the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Ivan Toney and former Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie in their squad.
Despite it appearing that Saudi Arabia is confident of signing Vinicius as their next star player, Real Madrid are said to be very calm about the situation. They have no intention of accepting offers, meaning the only way a deal can happen is if €1 billion is paid – that is the release clause in the Brazilian's contract.
For now, Real Madrid and Vinicius are concentrating on the rest of the season, but there will come a time when his future will be discussed. If that happens, Los Blancos will hope to secure his services beyond 2027, when his current contract expires.
