Real Madrid undecided on future of two veterans ahead of summer window

While Real Madrid was synonymous with free spending and frivolity on the transfer market, since the global pandemic, President Florentino Perez has continuously tightened the belt in the Santiago Bernabeu. Manager Carlo Ancelotti is often told to recover and do with what he has, without clear solutions in the past three seasons.

The cameies of Fede Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga in the defense in recent years are clear proof of precisely that. However, if their plans are implemented in the central defense, Los Blancos will probably have a wealth of options in the defense next year. Diario as an explanation that Raul Asencio, who has just expanded his contract until 2029, has been established to participate in the Senior Team for the coming years. In the meantime, it seems that Real Madrid is also set to sign Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, which means that his € 60 million clause is possible in the summer.

With Jesus Vallejo who would leave at the end of his contract, Los Blancos were to close a deal for Huijsen, it would leave them with five options next to Eder Militao, David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger. Asencio, Huijsen and Militao are all ready to be there next season, but the same exhaust valve explains that there is less clarity about Alaba (32) and Rudiger (31). Both no longer have a contract in 2026 and are above 30, are only offered a maximum of one annual extensions in the last year of their deals.

The doubt about how Perez will handle their futures is a special battery in the case of Alaba. Still looking back to his best after 13 months out of the operation of a knee problem, the Austrian is also one of the highest earners in the team. Ancelotti is in favor of maintaining both, because of their experience and ability to help Huijsen and Asencio.

Since Real Madrid was essentially discussed this season with three center-backs, where the ten minutes are played by Vallejo, it would not be entirely surprising if Perez sees the chance to save one of their veterans in the summer. In recent months, Rudiger has been associated with a move to Saudi Aarabia, as one of their goals, but recently stated that he is not going to leave Real Madrid.
