Real Madrid weighing up move for €80m Premier League midfielder

Real Madrid has been associated with a movement for a midfielder for most of the summer, after the absence of Toni Kroos appeared great last season. With just over a week to go in the transfer window, that idea is on the front of one of the largest sports in the Spanish capital.

Los Blancos seemed anything but in the transfer window this summer, after an investment of € 165 million in Dean Huijsen, Alvaro Carreras, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Franco Mastantuono. But in the background there has been a series of reports that suggest that manager Xabi Alonso would like another signature in midfield, although Rodri Hernandez of Manchester City was often cited as the most likely candidate for a movement, whether this summer or next one is this summer.

According to Diario AS, Real Madrid checks the situation of Crystal Palace and English midfielder Adam Wharton. The 21-year-old fits in with the profile that was discussed in Valdebebas, a more controlling midfielder who can set the pace and organize the team around him.

It is noted that Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool also keep an eye on Wharton, but so far there has been no suggestion that one of the trio will move to the English international in the last days of the transfer window. Liverpool and City both made large investments in midfield this summer, while United seems to have gone in a different direction than Carlos Baleba, due to a similar price tag if the € 80m Wharton is appreciated.

As a remark that Wharton would cost at least € 80 million, and they also quote the fact that Los Blancos would only move for him if they sealed a big sale. It is somewhat remarkable that Wharton must be on the front, just a few hours after a report has arisen that Rodrygo President Florentino Perez has asked for a move from the club. Real Madrid was already connected to Wharton in March, when they reportedly sent scouts to view him.
