Real Madrid willing to break contract tradition with Antonio Rudiger

Antonio Rudiger has been one of Real Madrid's most consistent players in recent years. Signed after leaving Chelsea in 2022, the German defender has been a mainstay for Carlo Ancelotti and has had to deal with the club's injury crisis over the past 18 months.

Real Madrid are very happy with Rudiger's contributions, so it is no surprise that they plan to offer him a new contract in the coming months. Interestingly enough, the club could go against their policy in these upcoming negotiations.

His existing contract expires in 2026 and he would currently be 33. Despite this, Marca says Real Madrid are considering offering him a two-year extension, which would take him until 2028.

It is almost certain that Real Madrid will look to sign a new centre-back in the coming years as Rudiger and David Alaba age, while Eder Militao's injury problems are also a concern. For now, Ancelotti wants to hold on to what he has.
