The stand -off between Real Madrid and Star Forward Vinicius Junior will not show any signs of ending soon. The two parties would sign a new contract this summer, but a change in demands on the part of the player seems to have killed that prospect is dead in the water.
Vinicius demonstrable last season as the largest star on the field in Real Madrid, but ended it very much as a second violin for Kylian Mbappe in their attack. In the midst of a move to Saudi Aarabia, Vinicius and Real Madrid made contract discussions and in the spring there were reports of an agreement about a new deal. Nevertheless, the Vinicius camp has apparently increased their requirements and asked that he receives a higher salary than Mbappe, or at least even his bonuses.
Real Madrid, however, will not meet those requirements under any circumstances, as reported by El Chiringuito. They say that Los Blancos is willing to lose the Brazilian superstar on a free if necessary, if he is not willing to lower his salary request, which is assumed to be approximately € 25 million per year and sign a new deal.
In the meantime, Cadena Ser (via MD) explains that both parties have agreed to the course of the season to put full focus on the field and postponed conversations. They are not expected to resume conversations until the end of the year.
The 25-year-old currently has two years about his deal, and leaving until the following summer would certainly be a risk, because going through his contract at that time will be a very real option. Nevertheless, Los Blancos have been smart sellers in recent years and it would be a surprise if it came to it. Postponing conversations until that time leaves Los Blancos in a more vulnerable position.
