Despite reports of progress in England over a new contract in England, Real Madrid remain confident in the appeal of the Spanish capital. Los Blancos are locked in a battle for the contract of Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the Scouse right-back set to sign a contract with Real Madrid in three weeks' time.
Liverpool are in talks with Alexander-Arnold as they look to secure the best years of his career at the age of 26, and progress has apparently been made. However, Cadena SER says that Real Madrid remain optimistic about his signature and believe they can get it on paper during the month of January. They believe things are going well.
After veteran right-back Dani Carvajal was ruled out for a year due to a serious knee injury, Los Blancos decided it was time to look at signing a successor. Carvajal is 33 years old and after that injury, Alexander-Arnold will undoubtedly believe he can earn a starting spot this summer. Carvajal is unlikely to return before October.
