Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio may be able to breathe a sigh of relief as reports claim he will not be charged over the alleged distribution of child pornography. Asencio is one of six Real Madrid academy players under investigation for the crime after the case was opened in August 2023.
The 21-year-old was one of six players charged with distributing child pornography after videos of an underage girl's sexual intercourse were shared by his academy teammates. Three of them were involved in the sex acts, but Relevo says there are testimonies that Asencio remained outside the hut where the incident took place.
Their information is that Asencio is no longer being investigated as a possible perpetrator of the distribution, but remains part of the case purely as a witness. The case is still under investigation and this status could change, but the magistrate leading the investigation is not currently pursuing Asencio as a likely suspect.
Real Madrid have not yet publicly announced a position on the matter, which is understandable for an ongoing investigation. When Asencio's involvement in the case became public knowledge, Asencio was due to travel with the seniors for a match against Alaves, but was left out of the squad as he felt it was too much of a distraction.
