Rebic scores late equaliser to rescue point for Lecce against Juventus

The Bianconeri squandered a golden opportunity to break the deadlock in the opening match when Khephren Thuram inexplicably shot wide and the goal was left to him via Kenan Yildıiz's cross.

Juve largely dictated the pace of the match as Francisco Conceicao charged towards goal after intercepting a careless cross-field pass from Patrick Dorgu and seeing his subsequent curling cannon come off the post.

When Timothy Weah's effort was ruled out for offside, it looked like it was only a matter of time before Thiago Motta's side struck first.

Manuel Locatelli was next to try his luck with a deflected long-range effort as Lecce remained resolute in their defensive shape. Marco Giampaolo's side looked content to try and keep Motta's men at bay, registering just one goal attempt at half-time.

The home side had their first attempt on target shortly after the restart, when Mattia Perin was called into action to keep out Nikola Krstovic's header from a corner.

The Giallorossi fans were given more reasons to cheer after Tete Morente, Krstovic and Dorgu Perin called into action, leaving Juve looking vulnerable defensively. Lecce had more joy down that right flank, when Krstovic shot wide of Dorgu's cross for the first time.

However, Juventus struck first in what was a cruel blow to Lecce, with a goal that Kialonda Gaspar will not look back on fondly.

The Angolan stuck out a leg and guided Andrea Cambiaso's attack past a wrong-footed Wladimiro Falcone. Teun Koopmeiners seemed to do even more damage moments later, but Falcone equalized the Dutchman's shot at his near post.

A far from sparkling performance from Motta's side seemed enough to take home all three points, until Rebic fired home from Nikola Krstovic's cross to cause an eruption of noise at the Stadio Via del Mare.

The result leaves Juve in sixth place after an eighth draw in 14 league games, while Lecce are 16th and two points clear of the bottom three.
