Manchester United is set for “18 months of pain”, according to Jamie Redknapp.
And he believes that there must be a serious overhaul of culture in Old Trafford to turn the mess around.
Ruben Amorim has had a hard time since Erik ten Hag replaced in November and lost eight of his first 20 games to be in charge, while United is 15th in the table and goes into the journey to Tottenham.
He also bent Marcus Rashford, Antony and Tyrell Malacia on loan, while the club's misery runs much deeper than just problems on the field.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has to look up the financial chaos – but his methods for increasing ticket prices, superflection of work and personnel percentages, turn out not to be popular.
Redknapp, however, gave his support that Amorim can be the manager in the Dugout to help the transformation lead with the right people above him.
But he warned that it will not be a comfortable ride for anyone connected to United – with many players who have to be pushed out of the starting door along the way.
The Sky Sports Pundit said prior to the Spurs game, in which United was forced to put eight not -tested teenagers on the couch: “For what it is worth on Amorim, I like him. I think he has something about him And I get the performances not good enough.
“But I actually love what he does more of the field than actually what he does on the field. Because that club needs a change in culture.
“We talked about how it works. Let people like Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho who left and one or two others who have had a mention about departure.
“Now, if they don't buy to have a good way of life and to come in and to train correctly and to be involved and to help the group and create a winning mentality, they must be excess to the requirements.
“I see Manchester United as much more pain, even 18 months more pain, because they have to lose.
“The one who has been in charge or even managers went so far and then they panicked and then they have gone and they have bought 30-year-old players who might not make the club any further. I think they now must take their time.
“They try to get … Jermain [Defoe] State to get the best in the classroom. People like Jason Wilcox, they have the man from Manchester City, the CEO there [Omar Berrada]. They try to do things slowly and I think they should do that. “
Amorim has not been afraid to show his ruthless attitude during his time the leadership – in more than one way.
He surprised £ 325,000 a week Academy graduate Rashford-Even publicly struck him by saying that he would rather play his 63-year-old goalkeeper coach and stated that this is “worst united team in history”.
But despite his difficult start in terms of results and the fastest United Manager in history to reach five defeats for Home Premier League, Amorim refuses to admit his 3-4-3 system.
And Redknapp is that that lack of adaptability can be expensive.
He added: “I like what he is trying to achieve, but it can take a little more time than what you would like.
“You know, I think he should be more flexible in the system.
“When I hear a manager who has one system, it worries me because you have to adapt in the game every time you play against another team.
“But I think Manchester United will come there. It's just going to take some time, but they have to go all the way.
“They can't just go,” we are going to panic now and buy more average players, “because the players are not good enough now to produce the performances that Manchester United wants, hence they are in this position.”
