Fans of Liverpool on social media have drawn their attention to Trent Alexander-Arnold after Virgil van Dijk corresponded to a contract extension with the club.
After months of speculation, Liverpool announced on Thursday that club captain Van Dijk had finally put Pen on paper with a new two -year contract.
The contract runs until 2027 and the club captain will become the highest paid defender of Europe in Deal Mailsport that it is worth around £ 400,000 a week.
The news will still be an important boost for Liverpool fans after Talisman Mohamed Salah has also committed his future to Anfield by signing a new deal last week.
With two important deals completed, the club that was once confronted with the possibility of losing three important players on free transfers this summer now only one whose contract is still ending at the end of the season.
That is of course Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is strongly connected to a movement to become a member of Real Madrid.
Although there is still a deal to be agreed between Alexander-Arnold and the Spanish giants, all signs seem to point to the 26-year-old who slows down his boys' club.
However, that did not stop that some very stubborn supporters go from Liverpool to social media to call on Alexander-Arnold to stay on Merseyside next season.
They wrote: 'Now that the VVD announcement is out, it is that Trent remains that next. E are going to do the whole person as feem! Boy stays! '
Another joke added: “Part of me thinks Trent drags all this out because he wants his Gerrard moment where he rejects Madrid at the last minute and stays in Liverpool to cement his legacy … (I am misled) ''”
A third agreed: “To be honest, I can't understand why Trent would like to throw something like that, it's just not logical, Liverpool is now aware.”
A further fan wrote: “Am I still thinking that Trent could still stay?”
Another supporter pointed out that Alexander-Arnold liked the announcement of Van Dijk's contract extension on Instagram.
The speculation around the future of Alexander-Arnold comes when the International of England recently returned to the training after an injury.
An ankle injury ruled the England international from the last four matches of Liverpool, including their Carabao Cup final defeat against Newcastle in Wembley last month.
The news will be an important boost for Reds -Baas Arne Slot while he wants to complete an impressive first season in the Anfield Dugout.
With six games left in the Premier League, Liverpool is 13 points free from their nearest challengers Arsenal.
Liverpool Travel to relegation-threatened Leicester on Sunday where a victory could seal the second title of the club in the Premier League era if the Gunners do not get any results against fellow thrusters Ipswich.
