Liverpool is looking for an attacking player this summer once Darwin Nunez's move to Al Hilal is confirmed.
Nunez has now received permission to complete his transfer to the Saudi Pro League Club after he has agreed to the move.
As Sky Sports News reported yesterday, Hilal already reached an agreement to sign the striker for a fixed reimbursement of £ 46.2 million (€ 53 million) plus add-ons that could bring the deal to £ 56.6 million (€ 65 million).
Liverpool is now expected to search the market for an attacking option that can come into the team as a starter.
The Premier League champions had rejected an offer of £ 110 million plus add-ons by Newcastle for striker Alexander Isak last week and remain huge admirers of the Sweden International, which is appreciated at £ 150 million.
Sky Sports News reports that Newcastle is leaving Liverpool to go back to Isak, but he is determined that he will only leave if a replacement has already been signed.
Newcastle is still looking for a signing to replace Callum Wilson, let alone Isak, and seem to lose to Manchester United in the race for Benjamin Sesko.
It is understood that Liverpool will only pursue a target if they are considered realistic feasible and available for what they regard as a fair price.
The club also wants to leave a path for the 16-year-old winger Rio Ngumoha in the team of the first team after his impressive performances in the preseason.
Does Liverpool have to sign Isak with Nunez set to leave?
Jamie Carragher says that he wants Liverpool to sign Isak, but has wondered whether the club should spend such a big money.
Earlier in August, Liverpool made a first offer of £ 110 million plus add-ons, Sky Sports News reported. However, the total supply did not reach £ 120 million, with the Magpies appreciating the striker at £ 150 million.
Liverpool also signed Hugo Ekitike this summer, who can also play as a no. 9, and Carragher says that he is splashing the attacker to possibly have a backup “not good” with him.
He said about the overlap: “It will be a great signing. But from the point of view of a Liverpool fan, I don't want the club to spend £ 150 million to Isak.
“I could probably imagine that he was Liverpool's target, but there is something about Liverpool who buys a striker [Ekitike] For £ 80 million and he is a backup. There is something that is not good for me.
“I look at Isak, he clearly thrown his toys out of the pram as soon as Arsenal and Liverpool have signed a striker. From him and the point of view of his agent, they did not tell Newcastle months ago that they wanted to continue? It just seems a bit messy.”
