Ref who Bellingham once berated as a ‘match-fixer’ will take charge of UEL final

UEFA has confirmed that controversial referee Felix Zwayer will take the lead over the Europa League final between Manchester United and Tottenham.

The two English clubs, which are dangerously low in the Premier League table, will fight in Bilbao on 21 May because they both offer to save their season with silverware and a place in the Champions League of next year.

The leadership of the showpiece in Spain will be Zwayer, a German referee with more than 685 games under his belt in the professional game.

The 43-year-old, from Berlin, took the lead last week on Arsenal's Champions League Semi-Final Second Leg defeat at PSG.

Although Zwayer is still a referee at the highest level, over the years he has been attracted to his vuited past in the game over the years.

In 2005, Zwayer was banned from six months by the German FA for alleged acceptance of a bribery of € 300 (£ 253.82) from a fellow referee who was repairing the match.
