Referees Committee in Spain release statement after death threats

The Referee Committee (CTA) in Spain released a statement after Jose Luis Munuera Montero received death threats during the weekend. On Monday evening they condemned the attacks he suffered, after more noisy complaints from Real Madrid after his performance during their 1-1 draw against Osasuna.

Most, if not all teams in La Liga have expressed their dissatisfaction with officializing in La Liga during the course of the season, but not as loud and personal as Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti fired the discourse on both Saturday and Tuesday, which was fed by the letter from Real Madrid to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) that accused the corruption referees.

The CTA had the following to say.

“The professional referees want to show our absolute rejection of the attacks and threats that our colleague Jose Luis Munuera Montero receives through social networks and that affect both personally and his family environment.”

“These attacks contribute to the hatred and verbal violence with which we have to perform our professional work every weekend and which in the Grassroots categories, unfortunately, changes physical violence in many more cases.”

It has been spoken that the CTA could go strike if they are no longer shown humanity, in the midst of furious debate about their inconsistencies. In the meantime, it seems that Real Madrid will get their wish, with the RFEF planning changes at the top of the CTA before the end of the season.

During the past seasons, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid who have a habit of the fault of civil servants, violence against referees has increased. Various officials at the basic level were attacked after or during competitions and in some cases even admitted to the hospital by angry fans or family members of recent times.
