Tijjani Reijnders knows that the pressure to deliver titles for Manchester City will be after completing his relocation of AC Milan.
Nederlands International signed a five -year -old deal in the Etihad Stadium after City corresponded to a transfer, reportedly worth a first fee of £ 46.5 million.
Reijnders will be available for the club World Cup, in which Pep Guardiola's side open their campaign against Wydad Casablanca on Wednesday, before he focuses his attention on the Premier League.
The 26-year-old is not illusions of the requirements he is confronted with in his new club, and acknowledges the importance of helping Guardiola's team for silverware.
“City is one of the largest clubs in the world, and if you play for a club like this, you have to win prizes,” said Reijnders.
“It was almost a no-brainer when City came. In the end, an easy choice. It is important to play European football and play for City is a dream.”
The pressure will be increased, an extra notch given City that ended last season without silverware after the third end in the Premier League and the losing of the FA Cup final at Crystal Palace.
That was the first time that Guardiola's side was unable to win a big trophy since 2017, and they acted quickly by signing Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and backup goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli.
Reijnders enters the club World Cup's tournament after a Fine 2024-25 campaign with Milan, after he has made the most performances in all matches for the Serie A Club (52).
Only Christian Pulisic (17) scored more goals than the 15 of Reijnders of the midfield, while no more player tried more than his 109 shots, suggesting that the new signing of Guardiola would like to find the net.
“That is what I did last season with Milan, more on the score sheet,” said Reijnders, hoping to add more goals with the Premier League Giants.
“It is very important to score goals as a midfielder, and it is what I am looking for, that and helps.
“The first season in Milan, I was not calm in my head when I had chances, and it was something I thought of in the summer afterwards.
“I looked at clips of myself when I came into those situations and tried to adapt to things like that in the second season, to be calmer for the goal.”
